Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 23, 2026

EatHealthy ("we," "our," or "the app") is operated by Samuel Otten. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the EatHealthy iOS application.

Summary

Information we process

Information you provide: Name, age, dietary preferences, health goals, meal names, and meal photos you choose to scan or import.

Derived information: Calorie and macro estimates generated from your meal photos via AI analysis.

Device storage: Profile settings and journal entries are saved on your device using local storage (UserDefaults). This data is not synced to our servers.

Third-party services

When you scan a meal, the image and a structured analysis request are transmitted to Groq (Groq, Inc.) to identify food and estimate nutrition. Groq processes this data according to their own privacy policy. We do not control Groq's retention practices; refer to groq.com/privacy-policy.

We do not integrate advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social login providers.

Data retention

Journal data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear its data. We do not maintain a cloud copy of your journal. Images sent for scanning are processed in real time and are not stored on servers we operate.

Children's privacy

EatHealthy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices

Security

We use HTTPS for network requests to AI services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information in transit.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
